United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Santorini Black
Won't start

Hi all, my freelander 2 won't start. I tried to connect a usb charger to the existing power socket in the centre console. But when I connected it there was no power but now the power to the little light panel for the gear selector won't light up and the car won't start. The radio still works and dash lights but nothing to start car.

How old is the battery? If it's 4 years old, chuck it. I don't want to stuck in outback Australia a long way from anywhere (photos attached).

What is the battery's voltage (check it with your multimeter) when sitting unused for 24 hours, after properly charging with a Victron or similar proper charger?

Try a new battery first.
The FL2 seems to need a very good, recent battery - see this similar 'No Start' post.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Rimini Red

I'd have used the push in USB adaptor as previously suggested, which saves messing with fragile wiring. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
Hyundai Ionic 5 Ultimate on order.
Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE.
