England 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Santorini Black

Just had the air con done, had the car for 7yrs and never had it checked, my god it's cold now, £80 well spent. Common sense isn't very common.

I keep my air con on all the time. I read somewhere (possibly on this forum) that the air filtration is better with it on. I like it that way. It might use a bit more fuel but in the 12 years I have had the car it has never needed the air con to be topped up and it can still freeze your nuts off (please don't ask me how you get into a position for it to do that - ask the other half!!!).

Had an opportunity to grab some straw bales that were surplus after being used for seating at an outdoor event. As they needed to be gone within the hour (venue handing over to another event) I got busy!

4 on the roof, 4 in the back, 9 in my little P6e livestock trailer, then rinse and repeat until field clear and my bale storage was full! Current driveway contents:

2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.

I think dealer courtesy car charges are way OTT. My stealer wanted a lot of money for damage insurance the last time I used them. My local indie charges £10 which includes insurance and fuel - although I expect that only covers a reasonable amount of fuel. My insurance covers me for damage etc. to a loan car while my car is in for repair or service but it was easier to go with the garage scheme.

My local Indie collects and returns the car from my home parking place, no charge, they've always done that.
A quick shout for Rovertune, Reading.... I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....

Off topic here, so apologies to other's.
I see you've got a deposit down for the Fisker Ocean.
I've just seen a review of it by Jack Scarlet on the Fully Charged Show. It looks like a perfect replacement for the Freelander 2.
I must admit that I'd have one myself, if funds allowed. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
Hyundai Ionic 5 Ultimate on order.
Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE.

Was it split or just preventative maintenance?
Would be as well doing the other end ot that hose that attaches to the intercooler, I've had 2 of those split so now replaced with

Preventative, but it was looking past its best after 13 years (72k miles) with that oily grot on the outside.

Had to contend with a good look and feel round the lower one which didn't have any of the oily grot on it, so for now I just nipped up the hose clamps. Just managed to get the one at the intercooler end by taking the headlight out...

I do have a lower hose, but that will have to go on the future jobs list for now...

Put the radiator, intercooler, condenser, rash bar back on and the front bumper. This was after replacing the cam belt and water pump. Mended a busted connection on the starter motor too. Tried to find a fix for the passenger side door window not working but I think the black box mounted to the door has an issue as it's getting 12v but not sending 12v out to the window motor. Will try the drivers side in it to see if it's the case.
Then hunting a couple of DTC issues down

2012 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

After 4yrs of service i said goodbye to my 2007 freelander s. I have to admit to feeling guilty as it has been a damn good workhorse and taken us all over the uk, caravan in tow creating many happy memeories along the way. i hope it enjoys its retirement and has an easier life than we gave it. I think it had the last laugh though as the new car , a 2012 xs auto lasted just 15mins before having to return to the garage after a minor rattle on the front end became a large bang with something parting company with the car. Having stopped i walked back along the road and recovered a piece of spring that had snapped off. Hopefully we haven't bought a lemon.

Just emptying out the Freelander after 1700 miles mostly towing the caravan down to Hourtin on the west coast of France, them up to Lucon on theway back to Roscoff. Fantastic towcar, as always and a pleasure to drive, even if we did Roscoff to Hourtin in one hit on the first day. Used no oil and at 136k miles is still a lovely place in which to spend time.
Now it just needs a clean!

I’ve just changed the power steering fluid reservoir and I took out my headlight for access to the hose clips.
I found this lying in the back of my headlight, does anyone know what it is?
To me it looks like a protective cap of some sort, it’s about 20 mm long.

Looks like protective cap that comes on the Purrflux fuel filter to me.

Thanks Brian, it’s only had LR fuel filters but I’ve checked and they have the same blanking cap.

Yesterday, I 'refreshed' my Haldex fluid and was surprised at the state of the fluid that came out after only 10k miles. It had a full service at Bell's last year.
