The generic term for a ipod is a mp3 player. Lots to choose from on amazon etc but I cannot recommend a specific one as I just use my phone. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

iPod or mp3 player can connect to the aux socket using the earphone jack. You just need a cable with a 3.5mm jack on each end. You’ll have to control the playlist from the iPod/mp3 device so you won’t be able do this when you’re driving.

Once you’ve ripped the cd’s to the music folder you attach the mp3 player to your pc and COPY the music on to it. Copy, because you can play the music on the pc if it has speakers or headphones.
If you have a smartphone with enough memory you can copy the music from the pc on to it. Connect the smartphone to the aux jack and play your music from there.

Alternatively, if you have a smartphone , spend £10 a month and open a Spotify account . Stream just about any music ever recorded without the hassle of ever owning the CD or ripping files . Even an old codger like me was converted to this . The possibilities are infinite . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I Think my head just exploded....seem to be going round in circles ...All I need is a way to listen to music in my car via the aux socket.....I like the idea of spotify but I've not got a mobile phone, I have internet at home (sky) , I think I need to stream music what ever that means...as you might of guessed I'm not that clued up on modern tech....

So is there a player that can connect to the internet anywhere that I can stream spotify , also connecting to the aux socket , also what is the sound quality like ? All this without spending to much..I would subscribe to spotify to get ad free..I'd given up on my old ipods they dont seem to be able to connect witn itunes.....HELP.....mike

Buy a bluetooth MP3 jack and set your car system to "aux input".

I listen to my music from memory sticks. Amazing how many tracks you can get on one.

I have full use of the media player - skip, repeat, shuffle etc.

It’s maybe a bit old tech but it works for me.

This is what you need.
I'm still convinced this digital music is just a fad and tapes will be the future.🤣
Still got loads of them but since I changed to this new fangled Freelander 2 from my Discovery 2 I've nothing to play them on.

SWMBO still has her Sony Walkman cassette player, still works but very few cassettes to play on it.
