England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black
Rear end suspension/subframe rebuild planned

As the planned next car is now delayed until early 2024 I've decided to put some money into the Freelander. The subframe has seen better days, I think it's on the original rear shocks/springs at 155k miles and the ARB is a lot thinner than it used to be courtesy of corrosion.

I've spent the last few hours going through parts diagrams and now have the following on order from various suppliers:

Rear shocks and all fittings, (including the hub bolt!)
Rear springs
Rear ARB, bushes, drop links, bolts etc.
Rear subframe and all mounting bolts
All rear suspension arms

Just shy of £1800 all in - or 3 months of lease payments on an EV. At this rate, we may well end up swapping the Volvo for an EV in 24/25 and just keep this for the "dirty" jobs until it's basically outlawed to own a diesel!

Once this is all done I shall be pulling off the sill covers and attacking the corrosion that's starting around the leading edge of the rear wheel arch. Current driveway contents:
2021 V60 Cross Country B5
2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.
