PROMOTING THE FORUM

Here,s a question that someone might want to comment on. In my local area i have noticed quite a few fl2,s parked up. Thought it might be an idea to somehow make them aware of our excellent forum without actually knocking on their door and getting negative responses. Be nice to be able to pass on some type of written info or maybe a sticker to get their interest.
Any thoughts on the subject. If it comes to nowt then nothing gained, nothing lost.

Perhaps a simple note with a pointer towards the website, tucked under the wipers, would trigger some interest?

Personally I hate it when I find leaflets stuffed under the wiper blades.

What makes you think they don't know the forum exists?

Not everyone wants the whole world to know their business.

I agree with TooBlue. Personally I don’t even have a presence on anything social media. Causes more problems than it’s worth.

It would be nice if everyone took the trouble of displaying the Freel2.com sticker.

There is no doubt, in my mind, that if we attracted more members this way, instead of only those who are already experiencing problems, we would get a better representation of the the FL2, and perhaps show that the FL2 is quite reliable.
After all the FL2 is based on a common components (or even mechanical design?) shared with Ford and Volvo.
I believe that the FL2 shares more with the Volvo XC60, than with the previous FL1.

I can see that as even the youngest FL2 starts to near its 10th birthday, the ownership experience will change to that of owning a 'Classic' car. In my experience that will mean the forum will need to become a place where we can provide pointers to where to find spares and specialist garages.
When I owned my aging Dolomite Sprint I eventually found a garage that not only knew the car but was surrounded by old Triumph Dolomites and their bits.
I hope that the FL2 reaches this status, and develops some specialists.

I already have a sticker in the rear window displayed. Cannot see it very well due to the dark tint. I was more interested in advertising the fact that the forum is out there. Perhaps i will just do the old way of doing things and approach owners when i come across them ,say in a car park.

The sticker is available to stick on outside of tinted windows. Mine has been up in the corner of the window for about 5 years and survived.

The Freelander 2 shares nothing in common with the FL1, except the Freelander name and the TD4 designation.
Oh and the boot bag hooks are also the same, and that's it.
Everything else is from Ford or Volvo with some LR bits holding it all together. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. My daily driver.

Yes im,e fully aware of the difference between the two models. Cataracts have not kicked in just yet. Will order an external sticker. You know when you get that feeling you should have kept your mouth shut. Well think this is one of them. Thud
