United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Loire Blue
HSE Lux vs metropolis vs dynamic

Following the write off of my 2011 HSE I'm looking at a 63 plate HSE Lux, 13 plate dynamic and a 64 plate metropolis.

All 3 are SD4 autos

Have I listed these down in sorting order of lowest spec to highest spec and are there any glaringly differences as I can't see any? LR Freelander 2 2014 metropolis SD4 auto in Loire Blue.

With regard to Metro - As long as the HSE is in LUX Spec, then they have the same factory 'extras'.
However have a close look at photos/spec do both have the same 'extra extras' such as tinted windows, tailgate spoiler, mudflaps, carpets, full size spare wheel and so forth.

Dynamic trim starts from factory with a lesser spec.

Both Metro and HSE Lux should be nicely equipped cars - good luck. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Every car is different as they may have extra boxes ticked etc
But in the main the dynamic is slightly lower spec but has some things that just are not on the others like the 2 tone leather wheels and body styling

In general the dynamic will lack sunroof have 2 tone leather but it's not the soft nappa it's the lower spec firmer leather dynamic only wheels and body kit and may well have less speakers for the entertainment
No reverse camera either

I am very happy with mine after coming from an 08 hse though and I really like the dynamic body kit and do not miss the sunroof but some may miss the sun roof a lot

What did the Metropolis get over and above the MY13 HSE Lux that it replaced?

Apart from the 'Metropolis' badge vs no 'Lux' badge, I'm not seeing anything different. It was (jokingly said that as the run-out model, no two Metropolis cars were the same as parts bins depleted Laughing) but all else being equal, I'd no doubt take the MY14 Metro over the other two in the opening post.

I think that the Metro was sold at a lower price than the HSE LUX when new, otherwise it was identical.

As said by myself and others, most 'luxury brand' cars, including ours, tend to be sold initially with a few factory fitted extras, and are well worth the time and effort of examining the actual cars on sale and/or the photos. Dealers often miss them or declare the wrong equipment. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Dynamic will most likely not have Xenon HID headlamps, other two will. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

And IMHO, the Xenons are the 'mutts nuts'. I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.
2014MY SD4 Metropolis - very much loved.

Unless you particularly like the interior and exterior styling of the Dynamic, I wouldn’t even consider one unless it was very, very cheap! HSE Lux and Metropolis are identical bar a small badge on the back and worth the extra money👍

The Metropolis was the ‘runout’ model so to speak - 2014 / 2015 cars.
I’ve had an HSE Lux and now a Metropolis, as said both virtually identical, apart from rear spoiler and TPMS not being on the HSE Lux.

The spoiler was an extra
You could also spec tinted rear side windows, tow bar , proper spare wheel

I went through the same dilemma over HSE vs HSE Lux/Metropolis. I personally don’t like the Dynamic but others do so it comes down to taste. I opted for a HSE Lux. Cost considerably more than a HSE but I have never regretted that decision once-particularly driving in the dark. The HID lights are worth the extra cost alone. The only negative is the diamond cut alloys. Look lovely but are a nightmare to keep mint-particularly if you use it off-road.
