Got there in the end then! The real guessing game is how many errore does one fix to get all the other ones you missed on the way. Fix one ball joint one ends up doing all one side. Have a happy Christmas.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Biscay Blue

This one was a tricky one for the guy as apparently wheel bearings are not particularly easy to diagnose on a Freelander compared to some other makes of cars. On top of that, it wasn't doing it all of the time and in no particular pattern. On top of that, once he got it onto the ramp to have the wheels spinning, the noise wouldn't always be there so it would almost take him away from thinking it was a bearing. He put it down to potentially only 1 bearing inside that was grumpy but would've ultimately caused issues to the whole bearing in due course.

One way to test for a dodgy bearing is to drive slowly close say a foot away and parallel to a wall with the windows open the noise will echo back at you. Mc Donalds drive ins are good for this but only if it's on the off side.
