Smear a thin coat of Hylomar or other non hardening sealer worked on mine, or just fit two of the standard ones. 2013 FL2 XS.

I tried that new seal off EBay waste of time & money, but what I did & it worked perfectly was remove the cover inside the car cut two pieces off an old credit card then get someone to press each side of the light as you place the credit card between the light securing clips & the tailgate body, that’s all you are trying to achieve is a tighter seal between the light & tailgate. It’s a bit of a fiddle but it will do the trick 👌

New seal and an application of plumbers mate (Boss White) no more leaks.
Make sure to clean old seal off properly.

I noticed a water mark down the inside of the rear screen, so decided to have a go a sorting this before it gets worse...
As the seal on the lamp itself didn't look too bad in what I thought was a smart move i stuck the seal to body...
Then i couldn't get the lamp to clip in fully, only at one end despite giving
a good shove with the heel of my hand and actually ended up putting a hsirline crack in the lense.
Censored !
Peeled some of the seal off the lamp to allow it the clip in and have now ordered dome more seals...

Fed up with the water ingress through badly designed light assembly having replaced complete unit once so have taped using this stuff.
Gorilla Crystal Clear tape. Flexible and will not yellow with the sun, unobtrusive. Tried to upload pics but failed miserably.

Edit - checked car this am after overnight downpour and boot dry. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

As I’ve posted before, plumbers mate on the gasket, does the trick. People don’t seem too take any notice, just keep asking the same old questions over and over again.

That’s because they are too lazy to read through the previous answers. They just want instant gratification, NOW!

CED, thanks for the tip about Plumbersmate. It worked a treat, although I did use a little too much.

All I need to do now is get some replacement trim clips as a couple broke.
