United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black
lead hanging down behind right-hand back wheel

Hi there, hope you are well.
I wonder if anyone can help please?
I recently bought a 2013 Freelander 2 and i have noticed what appears to be some kind of electrical lead hanging down behind the right-hand back wheel.
I have attached a couple of photos in the hope that someone will be able to tell me what it is please.
Not sure if it is something that has come 'unplugged', or something that is there to be plugged in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Are you sure it is electrical - looks like a rubber tube to me. Drain tube maybe for the fuel tank or filler? 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Hi there.
Many thanks for the prompt reply.
I will take a closer look again to see if i can ascertain whether or not it's electrical.
Thanks again.
Lee.

It appears from the 2 suggestive answers that I shouldn’t be too concerned and that it doesn’t sound like anything untoward.
Appreciate you taking the time to respond.

The fuel tank breather pipe is in that area. It should go from the fuel tank, backwards and upwards, to just under the fuel filler cap.
It equalises the fuel tank pressure as you use or add fuel.

Try page 1586 of the repair manual (link below)

It also has lots of diagrams of the area.

If you look in the wheel arch you'll see the fuel filler pipe and the breather pipe should be clipped in next to it...

It may have become unclipped allowing it to dangle that low...

There's also another drainage tube that runs from the filler cap area down behind the wheel arch trim Corrado VR6 Mystic Blue - Gone

Thank you all SO MUCH for taking the time to respond.
And many thanks for a copy of the repair module, which i now have safely stored on my PC. Thumbs Up
Unfortunately, i am not the most technically minded of people and, although i have taken a look a couple of times, it is extremely difficult to see/get up inside the wheel arch to get a decent view.
I think, just to be certain, i will pop in to a land rover garage just to get their view on it, and if it is likely to cause an issue if left as is.
Many thanks again, it's much appreciated.

Looks like the drain tube for the fuel filler area, there’s a small hole where you fill the diesel and it drains down the back of the arch liner.
