Sorry to offend the DIYers on here (inc myself) Laughing , but in the end because Ive got so little free time this week and then Im off on holiday, I took it to my local garage who replaced the bearing this morning.
£216 inc labour & parts (pressed in a new hub - "took 13 tonnes")

I had previously confirmed the fault by jacking the front wheels up and disabled the haldex by pulling the fuse, and feeling the excess vibration in the coil spring whilst SWMBO drove an indicated 40mph. Jules

I bought a front set of these from this seller and put them on. Don't know why you can't get the complete backs too

Jules I don't blame you, it's Ok if you have the kit and time to do it.

Normally I'd give it a go but events have conspired against me. Jules

If it was for the drivers side I'd snap that up. Weirdly mine has stopped making any noise again. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

The bearing had been slowly becoming more noisy for so long that I had forgotten how quiet the car was before - like having a new car again. Jules
