There seems to be a number of folk who have problems after servicing the haldex unit.
Just been on the Audi forum and oil and filter change on haldex is c£90. I've just been quoted £320 from a LR indy. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

See if you can find an Indy who specialises in Land Rovers. Or talk with https://www.bellengineering.co.uk/ The drive from the Cotswolds shouldn’t take too long and they’ll service the Haldex while you wait.

Cheapest I can find are around £80 + delivery

Interestingly outwith Bell it is difficult to find garages advertising LR Haldex service. I wonder what percentage of the 300,000 odd FL2 produced have had the procedure done and furthermore what percentage of cars are experiencing problems.

Visited Bell last week with a suspected PTU failure ie speed related whining and loss of RWD.
Turned out is was a front wheel bearing and also a failed Haldex pump. The latter was odd because the pump was dead but the car was showing no alert messages.

Austen replaced the pump and also swapped the huge Gen4 haldex flange for a smaller one; making future haldex servicing much easier.



Recommended.

I thought you religiously serviced your Haldex unit? Austen and son fixed mine, but it’s only been serviced once in 72000 miles. I think I’ll leave the Ptu until it fails if I still have the car. I’m usually into preventative stuff, but getting the Haldex serviced at a local garage made me go to have it done properly at Bell. I thought I was doing preventative , but clearly not 😬. Just had service at local garage and he said couldn’t do the Ptu , but didn’t see any leaks or anything so not worth it. He fitted the lower suspension arm which I bought from eBay last year due to a mot advisory. It failed mot on this, but good job I had one 😀

Ive serviced the haldex twice. But the pump was just dead - an internal short - not bunged up.
A lot cheaper than a replacement PTU.

The large damper can be removed from the flange using a press or an angle grinder. The flange is the same flange, just with a damper pressed on it. Obviously the flange has to be removed from the prop and haldex to remove the damper www.bellengineering.co.uk
