FL2 not starting

Hello all, hoping to find some help here to get the car back on the road after 2 months.

This all started when the aux belt broke while driving
The car lost power steering and the engine died.

I towed the car to a diesel specialist and we changed the belt and tensioner.
The car still refused to start.

After hours of testing the code that popped up was 'low fuel pressure'
And further tests proved that the pump was not sending enough pressure. We installed a used one... no change. Sent it for a full rebuild and wherebit was serviced and tested on the bench to be ok. No start. The pump is not pulling fuel from the tank or (from and auxiliary tank with an auxiliary electric pump) pump only works on the bench.

What could be causing this to happen?

Just watched salvage Uk on YouTube and they had rr sports with low fuel pressure and they had to remove the fuel tank and clean out as full of muck and algae type stuff. Don’t know if that’s the same for you.

The pump in the tank doesn’t send fuel to the engine. Fuel is drawn from the tank through the filter by the high pressure pump which then supplies the fuel rail. The fuel tank really sits either side of the propshaft and the pump there just moves fuel over the hump above the propshaft and into a swirl pot that keeps the fuel line to the filter supplied. This is why bleeding the fuel lines is so important when you change the filter or break the fuel lines.
A problem with early FL2’s was that the drive off the camshaft to the HPP fails (the camshaft breaks). Everything turns over using the starter except the HPP and that will give the low pressure at the rail error.

If the aux belt has failed, it's possible it damaged the crank sensor wiring, or the crank sensor itself. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Mine was having problems starting with low pressure fuel coming up and it was the fuel filter that was the problem

The fuel filter also controls the temperature of the fuel being sent to the injectors.

Finally solved

After checking all the systems in the engine, including the crankshaft sensor, it turned out to be the Trigger wheel located behind the crankshaft pulley.

Weird thing was there were no codes, and live values showed the reves climbing when we were cranking.

New trigger wheel solved the problem.

Glad you got it fixed. Thumbs Up Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

do you know why the auxiliary belt failed?ive seen them over 15 years old on various cars,and just cracking.
