Hi All

Purchased a 2009 TD4.e about a year ago , I noticed a droning/humming noise coming from what sounded like the front passenger side wheel , it started at about 50mph but when on motorways/fast roads cornering to the left ( so the weight is on the drivers side wheel it stops , when going straight/rh bends it hums ). I assumed incorrectly it was the wheel bearing so that was changed and made no difference, The previous owner had fitted new but poor quality tyres so just put it down to that and carried on driving it as is , now a couple thousand miles later and after a long trip to Scotland and back i have noticed the noise now starts at about 30mph and seems to be louder at 50+ mph

If its not the wheel bearing any thoughts on where to look next , the original symptom of silent on LH bends , noisy straight/RH bends is still there just louder and slower

The tyres are all just standard road tyres ( not AT/MT ) and all have 6mm+ on them so dont think its the tyres , i have swapped a front and back tyre just to see if the noise followed and no change

Shock absorber or spring ?

Was the replaced bearing a genuine part? was it installed correctly? I replaced a non genuine bearing in the old boilers micra and that failed very quickly replaced again with genuine part all good.

Common sense would say that as the noise disappears under LH turning as the weight shifts off that wheel that it is related to a component on that side, Maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part as i am hoping this is not front diff ( or anything major expense related ) plus when have car issues ever been common sense

The whole knuckle was replaced ( by me , so debatable if it was done correctly ) but it was a genuine LR part and the same noise was there from the second it was fitted , the part did come from ebay so its possible it was faulty

CV joint , there are no knocks or bangs but its going to have to come out when i start trying to find the problem , same with the strut - nothing was obviously wrong when i replaced the knuckle but that doesnt mean to say there isnt something wrong now
