I do like Evoques, I care not that some think they are a ladies car, seen a couple in my price range, but I have read a few things suggesting the 2011/13 era in particular have poor MPG, worse than a FL2.

We had a 2016 Ewok - I can hand on heart say that it was the worst car that I have ever owned - and I have owned three Reliants. The Ewok had the FL2 2.2 engine mated to the 8 speed auto gearbox, I believe the 2013 Ewok would have the same 6 speed auto box of the FL2.

MPG was better than the FL2, not by a lot. I drive spiritedly so the FL2 managed around 30mpg, the Ewok maybe 32mpg - the 240BHP DS manages 34mpg. The 2016 DS with the 2litre Igenium engine was averaging 36mpg.

Definitely test drive one before you buy, the Ewok is a dreadful car with visibility, unless you buy a HSE it has less toys than a naughty child at Christmas, and the auto box on ours was deadly because it sometimes decided to hang up (pause) while leaving you halfway out of a junction. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Early Ewoks came with the same 2.2 SD4 and TD4 engine as the FL2 mated to either a 6 speed manual or 9 speed auto (both different boxes to the FL2 and IIRC the auto was a ZF 9 ) Drivetrains were pretty much identical to the FL2.

2015 saw them keep the 2.2 lump but mate it to a ZF 8 speed which was supposed to be a better gearbox as well as the 6 speed manual.

MY16 was the introduction of the (not so) ingenious 2.0 with the ZF 8 or 6 speed manual gearboxes.

MY16 had different headlights, fog lights and tail lights to earlier models

Ive had a 2013 manual and a 2012 manual and both returned similar MPG to the FL2, slightly higher on a run.

i believe the autos were the same too.

I know my brother has recently bought a 2016 2.0L Discovery sport auto 8 speed and gets in excess of 40mpg on motorway runs and mid 30's round the country lanes where he lives.

thanks for the input, I am well aware a lot of people think the evoke is crap etc, I watch loads of car reviews, its a bit of a hobby and most cars are in fact rubbish to so many people.

Matt at High Peak Auots loves Land Rovers so always gives an honest review of any, be it Evoke or FL2 or bigger, he was one of many who said MPG was crap.

I have only had 9 cars in 45 years, I am no connoisseur as you can see by my choices, a car is a car to me, BUT, it must have something about it, I could NOT drive any FL2 for instance, 98% as far as looks go look boring and bland and dull.

Best cars I have ever had were Hondas, I can hear all you old boys groan and say Jap crap, but not to me, the second generation Honda Legend 3.2i is still the best car I ever had and maybe only ONCE a year I would see another one, my mechanic always said it was a stunning car and was dismayed when I sold it, another garage where they stuck LPG system on it, said it was brilliant to drive, their opinions meant a lot.

I know that you might not like to hear this, but if mpg is high on your list, then a Land Rover shouldn't be. I would go as far as to say that any proper 4x4 shouldn't be. There are 4x4s that don't have a mechanical drive to the rear axle - they have an electric motor for the rear axle - might be an option.

Buy one that suits and any LR or RR is a really nice place to be.

Most 4x4s have large engines that take time to warm up, so not suited to short journeys, they have frontal areas of barn doors, so not good (mpg wise) for high speed work. Driven sensibly over longer distances they can give good mpg in far better comfort and safety than a small town car.
For example my own DS gives 24mpg around town, going 40 miles to work with heavy traffic and then very quickly, gives 28mpg, same journey home with little traffic and 55mph easily gives over 50mpg for the whole journey. Over the last 20k she has averaged 34mpg Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

… It even gets an upgraded 22 piece tool kit instead of a nail breaking jack and wheel brace. Whats not to like?
