Freelander 2 diesel servicing/troublshooting Perth WA

Hello,

I have a 2009 FL 2 diesel auto which has developed a stutter when it's been driven for 10-20 minutes. It progressively deteriorates and the engine warning light flickers (doesn't remain on). I've posted under the General forum with more info of what I've tried...

I'm looking for suggestions for a good independent land rover mechanic who I could take it to in Perth Western Australia.

I think it's beyond my capabilities to diagnose without a code reader.

If anyone has an opinion of Roadbend, I'd like to hear it. I had the pre-purchase inspection done by them and they charged $400 (2 hours?) and didn't pick up a couple of things - a failed thermostat Engine didn't get up to temp) and a leaking shock absorber which I could see afterwards through the wheelarch (or that all the shocks were knackered).

So looking to get it fixed but ideally without it costing a fortune...

Hi, you need a suitable code reader, you really do. Until you get the trouble codes read, you are left with checking for loose wires, and blown Turbo rubber hoses, Start under the throttle body under the centre of the front of the engine. My guess is, if the rubber hoses are not blown, the fuel pump and, or loom inside the fuel tank, a not uncommon fault to diagnose.

I've used Tickels a few time and my MY13 is booked in next Thursday for brakes and Gbox.
You don't say if you're north or south, Tickels are in Wangara.

Has it been serviced recently? Was the fuel filter changed and if so what make is it?

Thanks Benzol, they're 40 minutes away for me so a bit far but I'll keep them in mind. What are they doing to your gearbox?
Mine needs a flush and filter change but I might do that myself.

I've booked it in locally to me (Petrotechnics) who are Bosch gurus to see what they think.

Yes, you're right - I've been able to borrow one and have been able to get a bit further:

The throttle body was replaced some time after 2013 along with the intercooler hoses. The wiring connector to the throttle body was not latched. It's very hard to compress the silicone seal in the connector and get the latch to hold. I resorted to cable ties to lock it on... I think this was a major cause of some of the codes.

After the issue occurred, I replaced the fuel filter as it had been done by the previous owner. It was a purflex and I replaced it with a Coopers. More detail here on what I've done:

You’ll need to be very mechanically skilled to change the auto box filter…not possible without removal & dismantling of the box! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Did you get you Gbox and brakes done?
If so what sort of $ do they charge?
