RADIO SAYING INVALID VIN SHUTING DOWN

Hi guys,I had to replace my radio in my car due to it draining my battery,I bought a 2nd hand one on e Bay...it works fine but then comes up Invalid Vin ,then shuts down after 30 seconds...any ideas how I can fix this ? 07 plate Freelander TD4....

Hi Johnny, I've no direct experience with this issue, but given LR and their use of proprietary software, you will likely have to get the VIN of the used radio/stereo registered with the central 'brain'. Basically marry/register the stereo to the vehicle. A Mongoose cable and JLR SDD software or a GAP tool.

I was told years ago by a landrover dealer that a used radio was locked to a vin no and could not be reprogrammed to a new vehicle however that might not be the case today!
