I want to run a power supply cable from the fuse box below and behind the glove box to the upper right corner of the dash adjacent to the A pillar. It’s easy enough to route the cable as far as the area behind the speaker cover in the upper centre of the dash but I can’t find an obvious route from there through to the other side of the instrument cluster. Is there an easy way of getting a cable through?

I've run cables across from the fuse box behind or just below the heating controls. There are removable panels at both sides of the centre console where it meets the gearbox tunnel. Easy enough to route below steering colum to door pillar then up pillar to windscreen behind door rubber. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thanks bobupndown, that sounds like a possible solution rather than trying to go behind the instrument panel.

The display cluster unscrews & pops out. I took it out to put acoustic insulation behind it. Also another time to have the TPMS mounted in display area to get power there for hard wiring.

In the dash cavity, where the dash windshield is, look underneath the dash 'lip'.

The black trim comes out towards the driver & you have heaps of room & access to run cables & have a party! There is basically a big empty space behind the console. Car is fly by plug in wire!

If you pull up the centre trim/grill you can feed a cable across there. There are 3 metal clips at the edge of the grill near the windscreen. Get something under the trim & give it a short sharp tug a few cm upwards, one side then the other, don't be timid. You could loose a clip & not find it, but it will be ok with two clips when it is back in place. I did buy more later but it's not critical.







Unfortunately I don't have a photo with the console trim out. It is one of the easiest bit of trim to remove.


Lots of photos in the Soundproofing thread with pretty much every panel off. Once you get a few panels off you will realise you can completely pull a car apart in 30 minutes. I have also opened up the passenger fuse box. Car worked after!

OK, I found the screws


but didn’t have time to try removing them as I will be taking the trim off the A pillar, and removing the speaker grills either side of the instrument panel to see if I can get the cable through. Not a big job, but it would take more time than I had today. Hopefully later in the week.
