Fuel cap door locked

My fuel cap door will not open. Recently blown fuses on boot (random) so all changed. Could this be an easy fix or expensive one. Only have 6miles left in system Sad

If you do a search using the term "fuel filler" you'll find several posts relating to this. Hopefully these will help you to resolve the problem.

Thanks Pab, I do feel that a visit to the garage is due. It's in for an MOT Friday so will have to see if they can sort it out.

Yes I think it does. Have booked it in for the day so fingers crossed it will be sorted out.

You may need to reflash/update the software from Central Junction Box.
There is a glitch in the old firmware that will drive the fuel cap flap motor too long and, in time, will damage the motor. This, in turn, will keep blow fuses.

I have been having issues with the tailgate and fuel cap filler, keeps blowing F25 (located in passenger footwell) 10A fuse.
Replace fuse and works to open then blows when car locked. Issue is fuel cap filler but found Technical Service Bulletin LTB00292 "unable to open fuel filler flap or tailgate" in service instructions #12 Caution: IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD121_V6.08 and calibration File 37 loaded or later

How much will Land Rover dealer charge? Does this have to be fixed via the dealer?
Can I unplug connector to solenoid?

Fixed.
Hi All. Worked out the issue.
First I made sure it was the fuel cap door blowing the fuses and not the tailgate.
When through alot of fuses but always blew when locking the car. Fuse F25 on passenger side.
Found this Service Bullitin which shows what to do.
Take off wheel and removed plastic wheel arch to access fuel cap from behind.
Then had problems removing connector. This releases via the top and have to depress down to get out.
Bought part off Landrover £38 [LR006363] but comes complete.
I just removed the actuator and replaced rather than removing everything.
Tested and works well.
Hope the attached photos of the pdf help someone else as was hard to find. This is not a genuine LR doc but all the details seem right for me.
Thx for the help forum, hope this helps the next person

Isn't it ridiculous, when you think about it? These 1st world problems we make for ourselves...

I had a VW Touran and the instrument cluster went. The immobiliser was in the cluster so it wouldn't start. Can you just fit a 2nd hand cluster? No. Mad We had problems for a year from that.

I bought the replacement all in one filler actuator and fitted it in 10 minutes. I followed the same method as described in another thread on here which I can not find again. Very simple indeed: no need to remove the wheel, arch liner etc.

1. Simply slotted a plastic panel knife behind the rubber seal that fits round the filler mouth and flicked the two plastic catches that sit behind on the left hand side at about 30 degrees to the horizontal (as shown on the service bulletin quoted on various threads here).
2. Levered the whole assembly out, taking care to keep hold of the drain pipe.
3. Disconnected the electrical connection
4. Connected the electrics to the new unit
5. Threaded the drain pipe onto new unit
6. Slotted into place and pushed the rubber seal round the filler pipe
7. Connected the fuel cap and coloured flap panel

That is all fine, but surely the failure mode for the actuator should be ‘unlocked’ to avoid being stranded unable to refuel.
