Where is the low pressure fuel pump?

Can anyone advise where the low-pressure fuel pump is please, on a FREELANDER 2 HSE SD4 2011 MY?

Cannot find anything on google and conflicting garage reports. Appreciate advice.

I don't believe there is one. There is a pump in the fuel tank which transfers fuel from one side of the tank "saddle" to the other but it doesn't send it to the HP pump. Hence the need to manually prime the fuel filter when changing it.

Yes, it is confusing

RAC diagnosed as faulty low-pressure fuel pump issue said it is under the rear passenger seat. An Internet search shows inside the wheel arch?

The garage says in the fuel tank?

face lift Freelander 1 is under the rear wheel arch not the Freelander 2, a lot of people call the Freelander 1 face lift a Freelander 2 but it's not if it was we would be driving Freelander 4's now.

Maybe 2 of the answers are correct. The pump in the tank does have an access cover under the rear seat but does not have good access. To get good access the tank should be dropped. If the pump fails you could have fuel in one side of the tank with the other side empty. A faulty gauge could perhaps also be responsible by showing fuel in the empty side. Have you tried totally filling the tank? Silver 2009 HSE

The RAC tech is an idiot, as the FL2 low pressure pump is engine driven, as it's part of the high pressure pump.

The pump in the tank simply moves fuel from one side of the tank to the other, as there's an enormous hump in the middle, where the propshaft runs.

More investigation into the real cause of the issue is needed. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

As Dave says, Please tell us more.

There is no Pump in the low pressure fuel system.

There is however a fuel filter, that may be blocked (or the wrong type), just before the main high pressure pump.

Thankyou you for your comments, appreciated.

Believe it or not, the RAC took 10 hours to come out on Sunday, and then a further 5 hours for recovery after saying low-pressure fuel pump (behind rear seats). As garages were closed by 21.00, we had it brought home with a pickup on Monday to go to an LR specialist. We live remote, so very difficult to cope.

In short, no pickup Monday, despite update messages every hour, saying we will be with you soon etc. Same Tuesday, with a guaranteed pickup eventually for Weds at 11.00-12.00. Guess what, same messages every hour or so, but at 18.30 on the Weds, no show from recovery whatsoever. Call RAC and get told "we sent someone to assess the problem!. NO nobody came! Oh sorry, we are sending someone out to assess the problem" Duh! it's already been assessed on Sunday as fuel pump.

Ok, we will get someone with you tomorrow. Meanwhile, my wife uses my D4, unbelievably first breakdown, limp mode, and engine management light. Turns out after a 7-hour wait, RAC diagnoses the MAF issue. Did not try to resolve and am now stuck.

We live near top of the Quatocks in NW Somerset, and are feeling pretty well let down by the RAC after 30+ with them

Once FL2 is recovered, we may find out the issue?.

Just be aware that your problem may have nothing to do with the fuel pump. I see you have a 2011 car, same as me and some others that when scanned have a permanent code "B100A-15 (6C) Fuel pump authorisation - General electrical failure - circuit short to battery or open". If the RAC read that code they would obviously jump to conclusions but in fact the code is spurious, cars run fine with it and it always returns after it is deleted.

JonMs Yes I have had the B110A-15 on my code readers for the last four years, not a problem just ignore it. Nobody has to date found a cure for it

Thank you for your responses. RAC failed to turn up, but say they will today to recover the FL2 as it will not start.

It is going to an LR specialist who hopefully will diagnose as they have a fleet of their own FL2s and service many. Fingers crossed.

Been a bad few days. D4 broke down the next day, needs MAF and Turbo. - expensive so we will see how the Autoprotect warranty performs.

Update

Turns out it was not the fuel pump - The camshaft broke! Everyone saying never heard of that on a SD4, just our luck whilst Discovery same time breakdown is costly with Turbos and MAF.

Before comments - FL2 has impeccable LR service history from day 1. The warranty says they will only pay for Camshaft, no other breakages. What's the point of a warranty?

Apparently camshaft failure was common on I think the 2007 MY and maybe 2008 MY. lots in previous posts about it. But later models don't show the fault apart from yours
