Its probably a silicone grease. But I cant think why you would use a silicone grease in a gearbox comprised of only metal parts. Jules |

The response from Makita was unhelpful. According to their tech dept, they didnt know what grease was in it and any old grease will probably do. Jules |

Hi , Silicone grease is also transparent , it's used on rubber seals . I use a silicone spray (Lidl's ) , spray onto a cloth - then go round the door seals , this prevents them sticking to the door pillar when it get's frosty .....next week where I live |

Yeah. I use silicone grease on my black rubber O-rings for my SCUBA stuff.
