United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Indus Silver
Freelander 2 won't start

Bow down Hi All,

New to forum.

Recently purchased 2009 FL2 2.2 Diesel and having really odd starting problem.
Insert key
Press start all lights come on cluster as expected
press clutch
press start
then all goes wrong.....
starter solenoid clicks
all cluster lights go out
solenoid releases
cluster lights flash back on
solenoid clicks again
all cluster lights go out
solenoid releases.

This continues while start button is pressed.
Thought this was classic sign of battery fail so changed battery and same fault is on..........

Checked main battery leads to ground appear ok and extra ground lead to starter is in place

Only clue I have is reading diagnostics with Autel diagnostics fail on BCM of U3008-01 module ground A

Any help much appreciated

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Description:
Central electronic module (CEM) has two ground connections, electronic ground and power ground. Both ground inputs from the control module are connected via two separate ground leads to the same ground connection in the body. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that: Ground input 1, electronic ground, missing ground connection in body. The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of: Ignition on. Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Cause:
Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals.
Open-circuit in the ground lead.

You need to find and check/clean Earth Connection of unit.
