Driving Lights stopped working

My off-side indicator bulb blew and I replaced it. Now the indicators work perfectly but neither of the driving lights work and I cannot find any way of switching them back on. Can anyone help please?

Many thanks for these suggestions guys, but sadly to no avail. I have check the fuses - all OK. and have tried the other on YouTube (and various alternatives) but still no lights. I must add that 4 years ago something went wrong and on that occasion I had to take it to the garage and it cost £90-00 for them to put it on their computer to reset it Big Cry . I was hoping to avoid that again !! So if there are any more ideas I would greatly appreciate them.

I’m wondering if disconnecting the battery for a while may help.

Ah, now you mention it, that was the problem I had on the first time. The battery was exchanged and it was then that the lights did not work. Thanks for your input but I am rather reticent to try that at this point. But thanks once again for the thought.

It’s common practise on these cars the hard reset sorts lots of things out you only have to reset the windows after.

Hi, Thanks for your input but I'm not quite sure what you are saying. Are you saying that by somehow resetting the windows this is the remedy? If so how is this done? Also by "hard reset" are you referring to the need for a garage to do this via their computer equipment?

Hard reset is disconnecting the battery for a while, when you reconnect it the windows will need resetting - nothing else should be negatively affected, and this is for many a 1st step for any electrical weirdness 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

HEY GUYS! - ESPECIALLY BADGER51 - THEY'RE WORKING. Further to my previous posts; as mentioned, I followed BADGERS tip and looked at the YouTube he suggested and then did what they said. Having done that and checked, the lights were still not working. However, I have just had to run into town and back approx 4 miles and when my wife got out and looked - whilst the engine was still running - THEY WERE ON ! ! ! I can only think that the ECU needs time to re-adjust once it has been re-set. I don't know - I'm a non techie Luddite, all I do know is they are now working. So THANK YOU BADGER51 for your input, you can sleep easy tonight because you saved me possibly a £100-00 bill from the garage. Long Live Freel2.com !!!

Side lights not working

I have a similar problem. No front sidelights and error messages to say left and right hand side position lights failed open circuit.

I have done a hard reset and the ECU reset but no joy.

On the wiring diagram, the only thing I can see is BTS443 21A between the light and the power source. Is this some sort of connector and any clues on where it is located?

Anthony

Does everyone understand that the ALL the lights on our FL2s are each controlled via its own FET (Field Effect Transistor) by the cars electronics.
i.e. There is no direct feed of power from switch to lamp.

Lots of info in this FL2 Manual

Thank you for this. As a humble Chemical Engineer, I need folks like you to point these things out.

If I have understood it correctly, the FET will continuously try to reconnect the offending circuit that it has shut down until the root cause of the fault has been rectified: in my case the sidelights. Therefore, I should keep investigating downstream of the FET.

The only thing that confuses me is that the FET creates a short circuit, whereas the faults I have read refer to an open circuit.
