United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver
So I took the plunge and ordered a new motor !

With my late wife’s FL2 sold in June and having sold the massive, money pit , mausoleum, Wuthering Heights clone of a house , I decided it’s time I kicked off the rest of my life . For 2 years ( since my wife was diagnosed and could.not really drive ) I’d been using the Fl2 as my fishing / shooting / helping the farmer / playing at gamekeeper car . So what did decide could undertake that duty ? Well I’ve only ever owned 2 cars that were flawless , one is my Scooby , the other was a Hilux brand new in 1983 . I always like that pickup basic as it was, plastic bench seat and all .
So last week after a test drive I popped a deposit on a top spec Hilux invincible X. Same colour as the photo below of the demo car , 2.8 , 200 horse diesel , auto , leather , loads of toys , JBL sound system with subwoofer , and loads of electronic driving aids . It’s getting fitted with a hard top , sprayed in bed liner , and a towing pack . The only down side is delivery is next year ! When it does arrive it will be getting fitted out with a Gear Mate sliding drawer system to accommodate all my sporting gear .. The Icing on the cake was I was able to use a discount scheme that Toyota give to BASC and the price was better than people like Broadspeed etc could offer . The Scooby will be staying for a while as I just love the thing , but I’m really looking forward to the distant delivery date

Good for you Martyn, whatever is practical/floats your boat is fine by me. Looked at all the dual cab utes to replace the FL2 with, but have decided to help the planet & dispose of the fossil fuel more quickly by getting a Toyota FJ Cruiser. That is if & when we are ever allowed to travel interstate again! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

The typical overloaded dualcab in Australia towing too much. The Freelander is a better option. The only things I have had to replace on my Freelander since new in 2014, are filters & rear brake pads, & a set of tyres due to our stone ridden corrugated roads.

For the Freelander factor in a leaverage of 1.4 In Australia the Freelander can take up to 350kg, so in reality only 250kg on the towball but with the Freelander's payload & very limited rear axle load it is a meaningless figure in reality.

A lot of people remove draw systems as they take too much from the payload & rear axle loads. Take your vehicle over a weigh bridge & weigh each axle. A bit of subtraction will be needed.

A dualcal is far longer from the rear wheel centre to the towball, so you you need to factor in more the 1.4 on the towball. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

My mate got the same 2.8 last summer, hes a happy bunny.

He is a keen weekend game keeper and also got the basc discount. The truck suits his hobby and his long distance day job miles.

He previously had a posh Audi and a battered defender.

Although with his drive style the toyata is catching up on the batterings.

The defender has an added ramming bumper incase of poachers, (mainly dog men in disposable cars) he said it was very effective. At work

I got a quote for a Ranger as well , nice vehicle , just didn’t like the seats as much , but a lovely thing to drive , also discounted on a BASC NFU / CLA scheme , specced up Wildtrack very convincing at 3 grand less than the HiLux . Also on extended delivery if you want the fleet price . I drove near your place yesterday CG . Dropped a few dead pheasants off at the vets in Topcliffe for a PM . My part tine keepering is up behind Exelby services ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Did you pay the toll? I take paypal

I didnt go wildtrack, just a single turbo ltd auto. Partly because it was in stock at discount and also because its a low use farm truck, the ltd jas way more toys than i need. But what a leap up from the 14year old model I sold, that was last of the line when i bought it, so 20 year old design At work
