Wales 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Mauritius Blue
New (to us) Tin Tent

Well we have gone a bit mad and decided to upgrade out Caravan.
So far we have had a 2002 Coachman 520-4 that we have enjoyed (our first van that got us into the life) but have felt the layout wasn't the most suitable for us now with 2 young boys so have splashed out on a 2016 Bailey Pursuit 540-5.
Love the layout of the newer van, feels spot on for us at the moment, thought about a larger twin axle van they also had but while the extra space was nice we didn't feel it was worth the extra outlay.
The size of van suits us, about same weight as the Coachman and easy to maneuver and tow plus as we like the odd out of the way site with narrow lanes etc so didn't want to go to large.
Pick up Friday, on the way to a weekend break booked some time ago that we can use as a test for the new van so will report how we get along. along with some photos of the outfit. Andrew

Hi,
enjoy it when you get it Thumbs Up

we have changed vans for bigger bathrooms, different bed layouts, the kitchen position and even once to give the dogs more room Laughing
Just sorting the insurance out for the current van (Bailey) and it turns out we have had it nearly 10 years now Shocked
so it must be nearly what we want, although we still keep looking at newer ones Whistle

Our FL2 has just been promoted to Main car so its now towed the tintent twice and they do tow well.

Thumbs Up .
my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars!
But its now gone way up Norf

Only a mile long... nah let them que further than that... Laughing

Seriously though the Freelander is a great tow car and with this van being a relative lightweight the only thing holding it back will be my desire to keep my licence. Andrew

Well a great (though hot) weekend away in the new van - more than pleased even if there are one or two minor issues to get fixed the layout if spot on for us.

Just dropped our van off in St. Austell - the eldest and his family are stuffed into the 2 berth Lunar Lexon 470.

A thought, many beaches don't allow dogs, but leaving the dogs in a van in this weather is deadly, a couple of years ago we bought a portable aircon that fits to the bathroom window. It only takes 2 amps on the mains hookup (450W) but gives 700W of cooling, when I left them the temperature onsite was 32C in the shade, but the van was 21C inside.
We bought it as we were going to Spain and France (working) and this didn't increase the height for the ferry crossing - higher = more expensive.

I have no association with the company.

Downside - the external unit covers the flush water fill up point for the loo, so it takes 15 minutes rather than 5 minutes to top up the flush water. Does depend where you fit it but with a 15ft internal length options are limited. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Well thats weekend #2 done with the new van, this time to a lovely site nr St Albans

A lot further than our first time out with this van but was a great weekend, cooler and a little damp at times but we think well worth the long trip (some 173 miles each way)

Got to say the site while relatively small had lovely pitches for caravans, especially liked them at night (not the best photo below, doesnt capture how pleasant it just was.

And a brief stop at Leigh Delamere on the way home.

Been said many times before but the Freelander 2 is such a good tow car. Andrew
