FL2 run out

Decided to take the hounds and dear wife to a holiday let in Lincolnshire, great place and lovely walks for the Otterhounds who rarely go in the FL2 as they a mucky Censored ! (I have a 2011 Focus that they have wrecked so the FL2 is a no go for them Smile ) So I noticed I had a whining noise from the rear which made me wonder what it could be, mainly happening when going over undulating roads that were quite narrow, turned out it was my dear wife complaining that the car was too bouncy for her in the back! Now she wants it gone, late model wearing well and not too bad on fuel. But getting it gone was the car I think, trouble is where would I find another 4x4 with low miles (18,000) low age (2014) and gave me 39 mpg on the run from Staffs to Louth mainly on A and B roads oh and narrow lanes in Lincolnshire Smile
Lovely part of the World.

How much are you looking for the wife, and what does she run on, chardonnay or gin? 🤣

Why does she sit in the back?
How about putting new springs and shocks on? at such low mileage i doubt you need them though. Common sense isn't very common.

The wife wouldn't have a say in what vehicle I have. She has her own, and I have mine. We have an agreement that each of us has our own vehicle of our choice , and that's that. We don't have a say in what each other chooses. Simple. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Lovely hounds by the way,
They match the thatched roof. Common sense isn't very common.

I read your post twice and wondered to myself if I read it right?

Why is the Mrs in the back?

I too have a spare car that I use for the hounds but its only to save on diesel costs and short runs. Every other time they are out with us in the landrover with protective shoes on Rolling with laughter (only kidding)

Why have such a big car going to waste in my opinion when there are lots go cars these days that have all wheel or 4 x4 capability?

Seems such a shame to get rid of a lovely looking car.

Definitely do not sell, maybe stiffer shocks would reduce the bounce.

Whatever you replace the FL2 with will be far more expensive to give the same feel of comfortable combined with usability.

Unfortunately the FL2 is designed as a proper off-roader, for which it needs relatively long travel suspension. Other soft-roaders have stiffer short travel suspension as they are far more road biased. unless you buy something with dampers that can be adjusted on the fly it will always be a compromise - if memory serves me right, doesn't some of the Evoke range have magnetic dampers - maybe a solution? Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

The reason for my wife being in the back was that my daughter came with us and on days out her Otterhound gets in the FL2 but as they are big dogs 40kg plus and the female younger one pesters the older one all the time (being a gentleman he doesn't argue) I put one in the boot and one on the backseat so my wife shared it as my daughter was in the front. Normally its usually just me in the car with one dog and he sits on the back seat which has a cover and dog hammock thing.

The bounce is like someone said they are built for off road more than other cars of the ilk, selling it well I have no plans as my daughter would not agree with my choice of vehicle for the dogs, a bloody big van Laughing

I have just bought a Gates cambelt kit and next month that and the service will be done by my independent guy.
Its doubtful it will be sold unless of course a get a great offer as everything has its price (so I keep telling the wife) Laughing 2014 Freelander 2 XS TD4

Hi, not sure what tyres you’re running but this can have a big affect on bounce in my experience. I originally had a 2012 XS and this always felt wallowy and was on 17” wheels but I just thought it was the way it was. I ended up with a 2012 HSE lux which had 19 inch wheels and the ride was always lovely. I’ve recently bought a 2015 SE Tech which also had 19” wheels but again felt wallowy. Since swapping the tyres a few weeks ago the ride has been transformed. It was on budget type tyres before and I don’t think there was any strength in the side walls. Might be worth a look?
