England 2008 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
i6 with Fault code U0167 and U2101

I am hoping someone maybe able to help with the following,

I was using the Nanocom to change the radio frequency from the Japanese Market to the European Market, I edited the ccf file (from Genesis) as shown on the Blackbox website and flashed the ccf up to the Freelander with no issues reported in the process, it then asked for the ignition to be cycled twice, by that I assumed insert the fob and remove then repeat, but upon trying to start the car no cranking, all the dash lights came up as expected.
Looking at the stored faults I saw

1/ U0167 lost comms with vehicle immobiliser control module

2/ U2101 -ECU infortain - control module incompatible

if I tried to clear these only 1/ would be cleared, and then trying to start the car - no cranking as mentioned above if the fault list was then listed again 1/ was back again

its odd that just changing the radio frequency band would cause this

anyone ever seen this issue, at the moment I have stationary silver brick

You could try a power reset... disconnect the battery, wait ten minutes, touch the battery terminals together briefly, then reconnect the battery and see what happens.

I'm sorry I can't help, but I will comment that I've seen a couple situations like this on another forum (mostly US) where an owner attempt to re-program the vehicle renders it inoperative. I'm now scared to try anything like that, although I was able to program a new key fob with the autel dongle. Pretty sure my indy mechanic can do the software if needed.

I do know with at least some programming tasks it's necessary to connect a high-amp external power source to ensure voltage doesn't drop (which can damage the ECU IIRC).

The LR2 has different power modes.

To get to the power mode that is equivalent to turning the key to the on position you need to do more than insert the fob.

Here is how you get there.

Don’t touch the brake

Insert the fob

Press the start button for 2 seconds

To turn off press the start button again for 2 seconds

Remove the fob

Repeat these steps

Take care

Paul

thanks for the replies,
today I tried the hard reset as described, but that did not cure the issue, from memory I am sure I did the key insert as described, so now I am thinking of flashing back to the Japan frequency band to see if the car starts, then flashing back to the European frequencies to see what happens, other than that it looks like an expensive recovery

I would think your immobilizer mode has been triggered or it's lost communication with your BCU. I would contact Nanocom support or resetting the immobilizer/BCU with the Nanocom if there is such an option.

Today I flashed back the ccf for Japan radio bands, but this did not resolve the issue of not starting, with both faults as before
1/ U0167 lost comms with vehicle immobiliser control module

2/ U2101 -ECU infortain - control module incompatible

so I flashed back to European frequency bands, if the 2 error codes could be resolved then all would be ok, I noticed on the Nanocom there is an option to Reset the Vehicle, has anyone done this and if so what happens?

still a stationary silver brick

Does Nanocom have a support forum? Do they have a manual that comes with the unit? I can't see how it would hurt but I have no idea what that function does....I use JLR SDD as well as an Icarsoft LR2 V2.0.........I am not a fan of the Icarsoft but it has it's uses.

‘Vehicle Reset’ is basically the same as an adaptive reset of the ECUs that learn your driving style etc & I don’t think will have any effect on your current issue. It is always worth trying though, as it will have no detrimental effect.

If it was my vehicle I would be looking to do a ‘BCU Sync’ with the Nanocom.

Of course you might be better off waiting for BBS to get back off their holiday this week & give them a fully detailed description of what has occurred. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Hello MotionInc
Nanocom do have a forum, but I have had very little response on that form, I have asked Blackbox (Nanocom) support team for help, they were out of office until 10/05/21, so I may get a response today,
regards

Hello Badger51
I have tried all the usual methods to recover from this issue, the only other action I could think of is to remove the battery cables and unplug connectors on the main "computer units" the re plug up, but I am hoping Blackbox will respond today with some suggestions

regards

I still have the F2 immobilised, is there anyone with an i6, UK or Japan spec, who have a Nanocom and can upload their ccf to Genesis just to compare with my ccf, I think I may have isolated the issue, but want check rather than keep flashing ccf's

I have looked at scrapped Diesel F2 Vin on Genesis and it does support a difference in a generic setting with my car
thanks
