Is there companies that buy damaged parts

I’ve just replaced the ptu on my car and now have a ptu with stripped male crown wheel spline. Just wondering if
there’s worth in a used damaged unit?

I would give Bell Engineering a ring.
They recondition PTUs, Haldex, and rear differentials for Freelanders and may want your old unit for it's casing.

Companies that sell reconditioned parts usually have a "core charge" added to the price. This is a value they place on the part you are replacing and is credited to your account when they receive it. They recondition your part and sell it on to another buyer. Very handy as you don't have your car off the road while waiting for a replacement part.

You probably know that already - so you can try those companies to see if they will throw you a few quid. MY11 SD4 SE Auto
