Annoying noise from front end? Suspension or cabin?

Hi all,

I have a 2009 TD4 HSE FL2 and after I bought it I noticed what I thought was a knocking sound somewhere from the front end and I suspected maybe a suspension bush or something similar. Anyway, I took it back to the garage that I bought it from and the mechanic (who is a trained LR mechanic I believe) came with me in the car and he said he heard something so in the end the garage replaced the two front drop link arms and checked the front suspension over and said everything feels tight with no movement etc. So, off I went home again happy enough.

However, since then the same noise is coming from somewhere from the front right hand of the car and even when driving over really smooth road surfaces the noise still persists! I would have thought if the suspension was at fault it would only really knock when going over ramps, rough ground etc. I am now thinking that maybe the noise is more like a cabin/dashboard type noise as if it is rubbing against itself because it seems to be constantly making the noise.

So my question is has anyone on this forum had a similar experience with their FL2 and what did you do to remedy it? that's if you were able to of course.

Many thanks in advance for any help or advice given. Kind regards.

Paul

Have you checked in and around the car and engine for something loose.
What kind of a noise is it, and does it vary with engine speed, or road speed, or acceleration, or braking, or is it random (for example blowing in the wind)
An example of strange noises is failure of one way clutch on alternator. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

The only noises that I have had are broken spring rattles and I have had 3 of those. Usually smallest coil breaking off and remaining within spring. Silver 2009 HSE

Drivers side engine mount. Mine looked OK until I compared it to the replacement once I had got it off. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I have had a quick look but can't find anything loose.

No, the noise is a constant type noise like I said in my initial thread post that maybe parts of the dashboard rubbing together.

Cheers for the idea's though Thumbs Up Kind regards.
