So far as i'm aware you have to switch on the HDC for the GRC to work at all as it's all linked together. My auto GRC definitely works. |

I have at manual TD4 and haven't managed to activate the anti roll back yet. I did do it on a similar Freelander at the off road course but it was a very steep hill. The intstuctor advised it only activated if HDC is turned on - they had it engaged all through the course so it is really only used off road or on a really steep road there is a tilt switch which triggers the system.

Just did an LR convoy day yesterday using my own car at the Dunkeld LR centre. The anti roll back does work - certainly was using the mud and ruts programme which automatically engages the hill descent mode. Managed hill starts I wouldn't have believed before. Instructor says it activates at 18 - 20 degrees slope.

My dealer yesterday told me that my Freelander does not have this feature (GRC) because it's a GS specification. Didn't say anything about auto or manual gearbox. |

GRC works on hills of 18 degrees (which is 20%, where 100% = 45 degrees), either forwards or backwards, and HDC must be enabled. --

I know HDC works on my manual. Don't quite understand how the anti-roll back works on the manual. Problem is mostly havng the opportunity to try. Can't do it on an offramp when cars are queueing behind now can I. |

You would need a very steep off ramp |
