Evoque Transfer Box in a Freelander 2

Gents,

after years of pulling information for this site, finally something I can contribute.
My old transfer case gave out, worn sleeve and shaft.
Since used units are 800€ here and one from Bell Engineering would come to 1k € I decided to try and fit one
salvaged from an totaled Evoque. They are 400,- on ebay.de and have an oil drain plug.
Long story short, it can be done.
The case of the newer unit is a little shorter (about 11mm) on the wheel side.
I used some old spacers that were around and a shim to mount it to the bracket.
The dust cover on the drive shaft can be moved.
To ensure proper alignment, leave the srews on the bracket a little loose and tighten them when the drive shaft is in.
Easy work with a 3/4" ratchet.

Just wonder if the outlet for the rear axle is also shifted left with those 11 mm.
If yes, it means that the main driveshaft will function a little out of alignment...

Hello Alex, good point.
I forgot to take pictures, but as far as I remember the output shaft was in line with
the output shaft of the old transfer box.
I'll keep this in mind and take the measurements of the evoque unit next time I have the car on a lift.
For now, when you compare the FL2 unit to the pictures in my original post, the flange is almost level with the
heads of the screws on the Evoque TB whereas it is ~6mm further out on the FL2 TB.
The center of the output shaft is ~140mm offset from the gearbox side flange.
