Battery voltage 11.9v and 'Special Programs' Dash Warning /r

Morning,

The battery on my 64 Fl2 SD4 is showing 11.9v on a cold morning and in the last two days I've had one message saying 'special programs unavailable / stability control off' from cold start, which then went away when re started and has not reappeared since.

It was also showing 'service in 20 days, service in 18 days, service now' on three consecutive days, which then dissapeared for three days, and has just reappeared.

car starts ok, but not particularly strongly.

New battery time?

whats the largest capacity battery you can fit in a Fr2?

I changed the battery on my 64 plate last summer, same problems you are having, the FL2 is not keen on low battery voltage it can throw up all sorts of warnings until that day when it wont start... Change it Thumbs Up

Quite right @gundogsd4.
In fact, I would argue any system with modern electronics will not be served well with a low power input.
The modules on the vehicle cannot be powered with inefficient voltage or amperage. At 11.9 v this battery is either done, or inefficiently charged.
Get a properly charged to appropriate capacity in there and the clouds will part.

As for the capacity... why waste money? why over tax your charging system?
put a battery of proper spec into the vehicle. Guy Pensa

Thanks guys, just got a new one, Yuasa 096, 80AH, 740 CCA which is the same as the last one.

was thinking about a larger battery as at work i'm in and out of the car all the time, may be locking / unlocking 30 - 40 times a day on some days. quite often get a low batter warning at the end of the day when I start it to drive home. doesnt seem to like all the computers being woken up a lot.

the old battery is still showing the green dot, which is supposed to show its OK, but the car was definately starting better with the new battery.

The green dot only monitors that cell, which may be ok, the other cells are probably on the way out.

In addition to the "start engine or system will shut down" message I started to get the "special programme not available message" so off to Halfords for a new battery. £132 fitted and I am so glad they did it as I think I would have struggled. Yuasa 85ah with 5 year guarantee. Certainly saved a lot of frigging about to save a few quid. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
