Mystery water leak

Got home from shopping tonight and my wife who was sitting in the front passenger seat noticed water had been dripping on her from above
I looked around and found it was coming from a small area around the bracket on the headlining that the passenger side sun visor locks on to
It was fairly dry so cant think it would be rainwater, I did use both rear and front washers on the drive though
Maybe the washer fluid was getting past the top of the screen ?
Any advice appreciated maybe someone else has had this problem?

I would look at the roof trim, where the roof rails are fitted or not.

I'd wonder if the line to the rear screen-wash has leaked - is it possible that the rear nozzle was frozen? 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Your not kidding, here it was one of these days when the ice on the car roof never thawed out all day. In the morning the mirrors didn't want to fold out, the window winder mechanism was frozen solid and just getting the door handles to unclip was a major undertaking. Still started fine and there was no sign of the elusive heater plug symbol on the dash! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

It could also be caused by a leak on a different spot which causes condensation on the roof. See this video of a FL2 where you can see the drops hanging on the roof (@7:05)

Grumsel, good point! Indeed, it could just be that with ice on the roof and a warm interior, that there is a lot of condensation forming between the headliner and the roof without the need for any external leak. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

That’s possible as the car had been standing unused for a few weeks and there was a lot of mist inside when I first got in, very cold here too for quite a while now

Not sure about the FL2, but my wife's Jazz started getting a damp floor inside when left unused for any time.

I traced it to the waterproof barrier (sheet of plastic) that had come detached inside door panel. This channelled water, that had run down outside of window, through to inside via the inner door panel. Very hard to spot what was happening until I trickled water down the outside of the opened door.

Not very much was getting through but it built up over the time of non use of car.

I first became suspicious when I noticed that it was misting up regularly as it stood there. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I can’t think why just about every second hand car dealer around the world opens up the tailgate of every car on the lot every dry day!
