Battery charger

Hi
I have got a 59 plate xs. I want to get a battery charger but I do not want to disconnect the battery to trickle charge the battery can anyone recommend a good charger. Also is it possible to trickle charge the battery using the socket that is in the boot.
I am not using the car to go out much and when I do it is only for short runs to get shopping.
I would really appreciate any help.
Thank you.

This recent thread may be of interest, as Batteries and Charger issues are common this time of year.

Yes, you can. I put my trickle charger on last weekend, and took it off again this weekend. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. My daily driver.

On my 2014 model the Cig lighter socket turns off several minutes after the car is locked. Jules

Use the power outlet in the boot which stays live after ignition switched off.I leave my car trickle charging whenever we. are away for an extended period

On my car MY13 all sockets turn off.

I have a Victron 10amp charger with Bluetooth so you can see what voltage & amps the battery is being charged at which is quite handy at times.

They must have changed the sockets staying on after 2010 perhaps with that years facelift?

On the 2010 xs the outlet in the boot and the one positioned for rear passengers stay live but the front "drivers" outlet switches off with the engine.

A really useful facility to trickle charge batteries!!
