2.2 engines - they ALL belts. |

Actually a 2.2 diesel has both types of drive, a belt from crankshaft to the exhaust camshaft, then a chain drive from the exhaust to the inlet camshaft (see below)

From 2012, all belt intervals were reduced to 112k or 7 years |

I asked myself the same question 6 months ago; 2012 Sd4, 100k miles. The general consensus was that the recommendation had been reduced by LR to 110K miles or 7 yrs. The other factor is; do you intend to keep the car? In my case I will keep it forever regardless of cost, so for me not a difficult decision. Cost £900 by Nick Kerner indy in Ascot. I know others have got it done for £400-600 in Lancashire but I don't live there! I know that the only time a broken cambelt happened to me in a 1975 Ford Capri Sport, it cost a new engine at about £400 which was a f***king fortune at the time. Get It Done! |

The cam belt on a capri would be a simple change. Need to do mine this year as it will turn 7, with 76000 miles currently. Just had mine done, with a service and MOT, 85,000 miles coming up to 10 years old. About £650 at an indy in Cardiff. Richard M |

Just done mine, car is 2010, with 154k miles. Only bought the car a few months ago. I got it at a good price, so factoring in £300 to buy all the service items for the 10 year service didn't seem too painful.

It's false economy not doing the water pump, as it's such a long belt interval, that the pump will likely fail long before the belt is next due. Removing the belt to do the pump, will require another belt/ tensioner be fitted. Do it properly, do it once. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE.
