United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black

I won't lie - that's a rather gorgeous looking concept in the last photo. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

I was interested in the fact that Autocar thought (quite rightly) there was a demand for a smaller Land Rover.

To Quote them
Freelander is a ‘vacant’ name that already exerts a great deal of appeal, especially since it has ideal size and age group implications for the compact, youth-oriented products that we want to build.

While it could be said of the Freelander 1 its definitely a stretch to think of the average Freelander 2 owner as being youthful ! Whistle

It's more like a lowered waist line Ewok, the dog will get a ricked neck standing up, need a minimum 90cm opening height of the tailgate for it to be a proper Freelander. They also need to look at the logo, I've seen it somewhere before and it's possibly a trade mark. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

mmm aimed at youth- orientated group, if I remember back to when I was young would I have spent upwards of £40k on a car?

Two very young kids, wife at home (only childcare available was for single parent families) and just bought a shell of a house that was a money pit. No we ended up with an elderly Vauxhall Chevette. I was 40 before I bought my first LR, hardly a youth.

What's happened to the FL1? it grew into the FL2, which grew into the DS, it's happened to a large number of cars, take a look at the VW polo, it's grown and grown until VW ended up launching a new car to fill the gap for a small car (Lupo?), so maybe it is time for LR to launch a new smaller LR. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Times have certainly changed - In the 80s, when we just had kids, we struggled to pay the mortgage on a £24K house (it went up to 15% APR IIRC ) let alone afford a new car. Jules

I guess the difference now is most "young career" types will simply buy on finance with no intention of ever actually owning the car. It's certainly what my wife and I did when we first started earning decent money. Learned to drive in 2011.
