Hi, I am thinking of selling my Insignia Tourer and getting a Freelander 2 auto, just wondering if I can get a few tips on what to look out for as well as different specs
I use a couple of forums as most people who use them have the know how

Looks a tidy car! Worth double checking around the rear arches for rust as this was mentioned in a previous mot. Also perhaps look at a few more as the GS is alright but an HSE will give you heated leather electric memory seats, satnav, front parking sensors ,double sunroof, bigger alloys and a heated front screen in addition to the GS spec. Also not every car will have a spare wheel, only a repair kit so worth checking as you would want to have that for piece of mind although you can always buy one and add it later. At that age it is now due a timing belt so check that has been done. Budget £250-£500 for the work if not, Good luck!

There was a model facelift about the time of choice.

Go for that facelifted model, I recommend stretching to a SD4 Auto Model as this suits the FL2 and gives an excellent drive, especially for towing.

Do look out for rust underneath. There are covers inside the wheel arches and along the sills which can trap mud and then hide a lot of issues, especially with a car that's never been cleaned properly underneath. The easiest place to check is the suspension turrets at the back of the rear wheel arches. Looking across the top of the rear wheels you can see into the unprotected area behind the tops of the rear springs/stut. Use a torch to look for rust spots or paint that's discoloured or lifting behind the springs. If it's rusty there you can bet there will be rust hiding elsewhere. It's not necessarily terminal and if it isn't bad it can be dealt with, but if it looks bad up there, even if the rest of the bodywork looks mint (as they typically do) I would walk away.
