No wonder that 2nd hand car prices are rising.

My 'rules of thumb' depreciation means that I would loose £30,000 in the first 3 years.

That's nearly £1 per mile with my usage, eye-watering! FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

Interesting.
Ive just been on the JLR UK website and configured a Disco Sport as close to my current FL2 SD4 SE Tech as best as I can.
You get a nice summary of your build and a very nice personalised (dated and timed) 21 page PDF to download - its got lots of info and pics.

However page 19 is completely blank except for the heading "PRICING"

Is JLR now in the realms of "If you have to ask the price sir, you cant afford it" Laughing Jules

Fuel economy is nothing to shout about despite it being a MHEV - 32.5 MPG according to the article.

It does look nice though. Much better proportioned than the "fat-arsed" Discovery. Jules

I know Shocked - the wheel well has to be built in whilst on the production line - otherwise you get nowhere to put a full-size spare wheel Jules

Stick it on the roof. You could buy a roof rack as well & still have change!

Quite so, Ian M. My (and probably your) Metropolis FL2 - now exactly 6 years old, cost the original buyer just north of £41k. 2 years and a couple of months later, I bought it for £25k at 16k miles and utterly immaculate. Even without needing to take my socks off, I calculate that at - yes, £1/mile!!!
Now at 36k miles, it's probably worth £15-17k on a sales lot - and they seem to be holding value well. So, my depreciation-per-mile has been c. £0.50p.(Touching wood), I've had zero issues with it, it still looks and drives beautifully, and despite the 19" wheels, it's pretty damned good off-road too (just as I recall you saying to me it would be several years ago, I think). Don't like the look of the new ones at all - and (at 75 next birthday), I'll be keeping her as long as I go off-roading, fishing, etc., and I'm sure that she'd do 100k without too many problems. After that, who knows.... after a string of Defender/RR Vogues/ Freelanders etc., it'll be a wrench, but maybe a Subaru, a Focus or something like that. No chance of me ever buying an EV! I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.
2014MY SD4 Metropolis - very much loved.
