Can't change from average fuel.

FL2 2014 with a newer style steering wheel (see photo)
On the right are four buttons with a fifth OK button. Of these, the left and right toggle the on dashboard indication of 'Trip Counter', 'MPG', 'Average Speed' etc etc.
But now pushing the right button only brings up the menu to set trip counter, lights on locking etc etc.
Help please.[/b]

On the end of the indicator stalk is a push button; give that a go Smile

No, on my car that starts the wiper blade on the rear window. Holding it down just pumps more water.
Like I say, my car seems to be a 'newer' version. Take a look at the photo.

That's weird then. I've got the same steering wheel (mine is a 2013 Dynamic) and the highlighted button (end of indicator stalk) toggles through the trip/MPG etc. here...

The rear windscreen wiper is activated using the right hand stalk (which controls the front wipers as well).

This could be embarrassing. I may have had a moment! Think you're right. I'll curl up in the corner now.

It's called a senior moment.

Other half & I at times have pressed some of these buttons to turn the car on or off, initially wondering why the car won't obey & keeps doing its own thing..... naughty car! We've had the car 6 years! Rolling with laughter at oneself!

Other half actually phoned me one day asking for technical support on how to start the car & she had to find a phone as she didn't have a mobile & was on the verge of getting a bus home! Shocked Embarassed Laughing

Admitting to one's embarrassing moments does move you up the status ladder! Whistle

P.S. let's not get onto the subject of operating the handbrake in the wrong direction & wondering why the car won't move! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Or why the key fob won't come out when the auto box is still in gear. Whistle Common sense isn't very common.

Or getting in the wrong side of the car & wondering why the steering wheel is on the other side.

To be fair we were driving in Europe, but we should have got it figured out after a few months of being home! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

While out today, I had a panic moment when, although everything looked ok, when pressing the start button myFL2 never attempted to start.

After several attempts, (and wondering how long it would be to get home via the AA), I moved the gear lever from 'drive' into 'park', and started the engine,

This is not, by any means, the first time I have done it.

The problem lies in the fact that my car starts so quickly and reliably each time, that I sub-consciously drop my hand from the 'start button' to the 'gear lever' and move it ready to drive. This is done automatically and works perfectly, unless the car hesitates to start.

PS Is this a known error and is there a program update available for my brain? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I believe there is a dealer recall available to re program the older models made between 1940s - 1970s
(Newer models get direct updates by bluetooth)

Or why the car won't start if you don't put the key in the slot.

Or why the rear doors won't open from the inside unless the unlock button is pressed (I've only had the car for 8 years)

Or why my memory won't remember simple things.

I remember once years ago looking for our car in a shopping centre. I must have walked past the car about 3 times. There was one minor detail I got wrong. No, it wasn't the wrong level. I was looking for our previous car! Laughing

Should have bought a different colour car! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
