Freelander 2 uprated intercooler ???

Anyone know if there are any companies that do an uprated intercooler for the Freelander 2 2.2 TD4?

Try JJ Fearn or the site sponsors Bell Auto Services.
I have recently asked about this over on the Range Rover Sport forums and received some very interesting answers - basically that uprating the intercooler (or in the case of TDV8, inter-coolers) doesn't actual do much on it's own, to get significant improvements in performance remapping/ chipping as well as a bigger inter-cooler is advised. With the TDV8 there is the added problem that there is hardly any room left in the engine bay to slot in bigger 'coolers! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen

Thanks for the response.

A remap would also be on my to do list. I'm interested in the intercooler first because I dented mine from a previous offroad excursion! Am reluctant to replace with standard Land Rover one if i can get an uprated one.

Thanks

An upgraded Intercooler on it's own is a very good idea if your towing. It will help to reduce intake temps. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Wouldn't you only need a bigger intercooler if you're going to stick in a bigger turbo too? Hmm.. now there's an idea! 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

Yes that is also true, but even with the standard turbo and standard map, you would make the system more efficient. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

More fuel economy? Mind you, would we be talking 2 million miles to recoup the benefit? 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

Where is the FL2 intercooler anyway? I thought the whole thing at the front, top and bottow was all the radiator? 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

I beleive like other manufacturers, it is a 3 sandwich arrangement.

Water radiator at the back, Intercooler in the middle and A/C rad at the front. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

@revolt5 don't suppose you found a performance intercooler in the end?

Nearly, water at back, a\c condenser in middle and intercooler at bottom in front. You can see it through bottom grill.
I know because Ive changed condenser and intercooler(twice) Andy

Apparently the cooler is identical to the 5cyl Focus ST item so in theory the performance coolers for the Focus should be a option , maybe with oversize hoses?
