£2.3m !!!! 3 times initial cost ...... What a waist of money !!

They should BAN cycles.

why do they have right of way over vehicles.

Bicycles are for kids !!!

Next we will be reintroducing special lanes for horses.

another step backwards for the UK.

Discuss..........

PS I learnt to drive in Hemel Hempstead, just as they built the 'Magic Roundabout'.

All the cyclists use the pavements around here as the roads are too dangerous.

It will cost too much money to seperate cyclists and motor vehicles everywhere.

I remember these multi function roundabouts from the 1960s. I was stationed on the German-Dutch borders for several years.

The main problem then was that the mopeds raced around the outer ring, at about 25-30mph, and straight across in front of you as you approached, or left, the roundabout.

In those days traffic was much slower and a lot less than now.

I thought that it was dangerous then, and even more so now. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Wouldn't even bother overtaking, just follow her down the road Wink Or is she awaiting roadside assistance to remove the saddle Rolling with laughter

Well, that was why the roads were built in the first place. Many are thousands of years old and cars, as we know them, will drive on them for a fraction of that time.

Bicycles revolutionised society - allowing people to travel miles further than they could walk in the same time - long before cars became affordable to the average person.

Drivers and cars cause thousands of deaths every year through collisions and pollution. Maybe cars should be banned. - oh I see the Gov is slowly doing that - exclusion from cities and pricing them out of general affordability Jules

Will the cyclists even all go round the same way?
Will they congregate in groups for selfies as on railway level crossings?
Will the cyclists give way to pedestrians?

Answers will be available shortly from the local A&E Department. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Horses often step backwards, so don't get too close and mind they don't step on your foot, and don't forget your bucket and spade. Of course if you are in the car make sure you have a bucket and sponge handy to clean the bonnet.

J

PS: we already have special lanes for horses, they are called bridleways.

Edited for typo

If cyclists wish to use the public highway then make it compulsory to have some form of insurance - if nothing else it gives every other road user the opportunity to claim against them. As it is now there's little chance, short of taking a private action, of recouping money for anything they're involved in be it an accident or damage to your vehicle when they charge past

The local horse riders are already taking over the local roads, and like some cyclists are ignoring paths reserved for them and are using the roads for other purposes than travelling from A to B.

Yesterday I was shouted at by a lady on a horse, carrying a very, very, long whip (which she was waving around the road), even though I slowed and pulled completely onto the other side of the road to overtake. There was no on coming traffic and I pulled out early and did not cut in.

Also, every weekend, we have cyclists, who seem to be carrying out official or personal time trials, and they are not taking any prisoners.

Cars are not allowed to race on the roads, so why are cyclists? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I have a friend who lives in NZ, and it is not compulsory to have car insurance, never mind a cyclist having insurance !!!
