508km to get groceries (1016km round trip)

We have stocked up at Tennant Creek coming from Mount Isa & bought petrol at TC as it is cheaper than at Three Ways, 26km north of TC, the round trip is cheaper. The only supermarket in town burns down. Even though you are in civilization you soon realise how remote you are.

If driving through TC stock up at Alice Springs (508km) or Katherine (674km), or Mount Isa (662km) in Queensland.

'The only major grocery store in the remote town of Tennant Creek, 500 kilometres north of Alice Springs, has been forced to close after a fire overnight.'

https://amp.abc.net.au/article/12448670

'It's going to be a trying time for the people of Tennant Creek, I can imagine. IGA management confirmed it was looking at potentially setting up a shop at the back of the town's BP petrol station.' Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Blimey Lightwater that is shocking . for us in this little island traveling any more than 20 miles for shopping or fuel is annoying I cant imagine having to travel those sort of distances for supplies Shocked
Hopefully they should be able to get food etc airlifted in using some sort of emergency plan

It's not really a problem, it's just if you get caught short, a roadtrain will bring in supplies. They just have to get a shed organised.

Roadtrains will need to bring in baked beans instead of explosives!

You also have to make sure you have plenty of fuel in these areas, have 2 spare tyres & can repair them yourself.

Sandy, type ' shirtlifters ' into Google, you will be surprised by the results.
