Metallica pay tribute to Morricone

Metallica use Morricone's Ecstasy of Gold to open their concerts.

Here they are in collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.


Their first Bassist, Cliff Burton, was an avid Classical Music fan until his life was tragically cut short in a tour bus crash in 1986. Cliff often spoke of the similarities of Classical music to Heavy Metal. He loved Morricone's work !
As well as playing Ecstasy of Gold, the concert above proves Cliff's point by combining Classical with Metallica's own brand of Heavy Metal - and it works a treat.

Only just heard Rupert Hine died on June 4th , biggest claim to fame was singing

as part of the song Lone Ranger with Quantum Jump, however he was also a very in demand record producer mainly in the 80s. He is also the man who Stevie Nicks wrote "Rooms on Fire" about, something I recall from way back, (as I thought she wrote it about me) . . she said "The night I met Rupert Hine was a dangerous one. He was different from anyone else I had ever known." . . . .
