Castrol Oil prices

For the last 5 years I have used, Castrol Edge Professional, ST JLR 03.5005 (C1).
I can get 5 Litres, from Germany, £49.13. Postage Free.
Opie oil, £77.50
But I can also buy 5 Litres of Castrol Edge, 5W-30 VW50400/50700 £33
Are there any Oil gurus on here that can explain the difference and why C1 oil is more expensive?

I think the C1 oil is low ash content for engines with DPF?
My Evoke uses the more expensive C1 and has a DPF where as my Freelander uses the B spec cheaper oil and has no DPF.

I didn't realise this till I bought the Evoke. I thought, both have the same engine I could save some cash on servicing.

at the Renault dealers, early dpf days,we attributed early dpf failure to the wrong oils.

Millers oil 5w 30 C1 5lts £30 same spec as Castrol, C1 is low ash for cars with DPF fitted. Give the guys @ Opie oil a bell & I can guarantee you they will confirm that Millers XF LONGLIFE C1 is perfect for a Freelander 2.

I use Millers C1 which is indeed the correct spec for dpf freelanders.
All of millers products are excellent, I really recommend them. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Sorry but I am confused here, I thought the engine oil went into the engine not the fuel so I really don't see how engine oil affects the DPF system, it is not as if the two are mixed, or is it?  MY2014 SD4 XS

Thank you for all your tech. support. On a personal note I have been using Castrol products since the early 60's, even down to using a drop of, Castrol R, with petrol, in the days before the term, "Petrol Head", was invented.
So I guess, customer loyalty and trust places an important part of my choice and an additional cost of say £20 over the year is insignificant. What has really dismayed me is the price difference, Opie Oil are charging for Castrol and what I can buy the same oil from Germany, postage free. Had no response from, Opie, when asked if they would price match.

Nothing like it , sadly an almost forgotten aroma nowadays, classic motorcycle racers still using it - fabulous smell! Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
