Unbreakable Toyotas - fuel pump

More than 45,000 Toyota vehicles have been recalled over concerns a defective fuel pump could increase the risk of crashes, but potentially dodgy parts may not be able to be replaced for months.

https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-07/...p/12128104

The fuel pumps on popular Toyota models such as the LandCruiser, Prado, Camry, Corolla and Hilux models manufactured between 2013 and 2019 could stop working at any time, causing them to stall.

"A loss of power while driving could increase the risk of a crash, which may cause injury to the vehicle occupants and other road users," the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I doubt we’ll get the recall over here, they will still be 100% reliable in Britain.......it takes an MP to die in a road crash before they issue a recall here.

Not sure why this is relevant to the FL2 forum......unless you saw a thread in a HiLux forum listing the faults on a Freelander, if they had enough bandwidth Rolling with laughter Regards

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

I worked for a very well know semiconductor manufacture in the 80's. I was asked to do a presentation on quality.
I took each of our competitors and used the analogy of a clock moving 1 second in time for each of their failures.
Several different clocks all ticking away with increasing minutes.
The sales director asked me why I was not showing a clock of 'our own' company, to which I replied "its currently in the loo being used as a fan"

I get fed up being lectured on how reliable Toyotas are (and how they’ll do at least 500,000 miles before the washer fluid needs topping up, let alone any repairs) and how incompetent LR are, that it’s good to see a little balance sometimes.

Alternatively: All Toyotas have reliable fuel pumps other that 45,000+!

To date my Land Rover has been my most reliable car! Same with my sister's Evoque! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Some of us like our Disco Sports so much, we got rid and bought another Disco Sport - put your money where your mouth is in my case.

The only reason that we didn't buy another Freelander - LR stopped making them.

Up to a point if your car has less than perfect reliability, but the dealer fixes it without a fuss, and you get to play in a new car for a few days, then what could have been a right pain becomes a good experience, enough that you end up buying that nice new (faster) car that you were driving around in. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
