Haldex - again!

Sorry to bore you all with yet another haldex issue, but I am stumped with this, so hoping others can help:

I have a Freelander 2 HSE Auto (2013 model). In September 2019, the factory fitted haldex failed and I had a replacement reconditioned haldex supplied by a very well-known recon haldex supplier and fitted by specialist land rover mechanic. The mechanic has fitted at least 3 recon haldex before, from the same supplier, without a problem.

After about 2000 miles, my recon haldex appears to have failed - once again I have the same low-speed grinding noise/juddering and the car is now virtually undriveable around town.

My mechanic is being told by the supplier that the fault is not with the recon haldex unit, but is a wiring issue, although does not appear to be told what the wiring issue is.

Has anyone come across this before? If so, what is the wiring issue and how is it be fixed?

All advice very welcome. Thanks.

Thanks. The problem is that there is no error message at all. My own mechanic thinks that it is the recon Haldex which has failed, but the supplier says it is electrical and appears unwilling to supply another recon diff instead. However, supplier doesn't clearly identify what the electrical fault is and what the fix is.

Supplier appears unwilling to accept the recon diff itself may be faulty. I think it is. My mechanic thinks it is too.

Will be pushing for replacement diff to be sent up. I hope this well known supplier will co-operate and supply another recon diff.

If no success, will give further details on here, with the paperwork etc..

By diff do you mean Haldex?

I think you should edit your posts to correct the Haldex / diff mix up. I think people will have a better chnace of helping you then.

For example a 'low-speed grinding noise/juddering' is not a common symptom of a diff problem on these cars.

It may be that you need a new Haldex pump.

Check also that your wiring loom to the Haldex control unit is not chaffing - Apparently this is a common problem. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

Not sure if it is of use to you, but I had arranged to have my haldex replaced by Bell Engineering as I have 2014 XS doing the same, I asked about the issues with folk replacing them numerous times, they found the issue and it is a known issue and they have sorted it out and was assured once fitted it wont happen again. I will be having mine done once the lock down is over 2014 Freelander 2 XS TD4
