Windscreen

Sorry to ask but this is bugging me... Embarassed

What is the small glass looking thing that you see in front of drivers attached to the windscreen on some cars ?

Looks slightly frosted perhaps Neutral

Don't some cars have something like that for a "headsup " display. Didn't some Peugeot cars have it ? Just googled it, loads of different types out there. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep
2013 SD4 HSE The posh one for towing the caravan
1973 Triumph Stag I bought in 2009 and restored.

Two further options; Could be a recording camera; or- in my case, a French motorway toll Tag.

Really? That is very surprising to need a different material with today’s technology.

The HUD on my Vette (first introduced in the late 90’s C5 Corvette) displayed directly onto the windscreen glass. You could choose your instruments, brightness and position of the display within reason too and it didn’t need any special bits added to the windscreen.

The large digit speed display element was a proper license saver in a car that would do 70 at <1300 revs and with a difficult-to-read 300mph speedo.

A lot of the modern vehicle HuDs use a small plastic screen away from the windscreen, often the demist vents (their depth from the screen) preclude using the windscreen as HuD, they are not that sophisticated, not exactly an F35 Laughing Regards

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
