I've been on the Defender forum for quite a while and also have a freelander 2 after driving my parents and realising I needed my own!

I'm just interested to know other owners experience on replaced clutches. My dad had the clutch and DMF done 3 weeks ago on his 11plate GS and he always insists on having genuine LR parts fitted. The garage has mentioned sending the old DMF back as it's an exchange unit and worth about £300. So my first question is does this sound right if it's a genuine LR unit? Does Land Rover get involved in refurbing DMF's?

I'm not aware of any JLR models with a surcharge on a DMF...

I take it back, there is a £200 + VAT surcharge on an FL2 DMF

That sounds crazy. Thats the price of a new LUK DMF, which is considered equal to genuine. Go for LUK components for the whole DMF/clutch and you will be safe.
Mine should be done soon and has now covered nearly 170.000 miles.
