Front suspension

Hi all
I just bought a FL 2 auto GS with a few issues so will probably be on here asking for advice quite a few times in the near future
One thing I want to get to the bottom of is a handling issue, the car seems to wallow at the front quite a lot and going over bumps it seems to shimmy across a little sideways
I want to check the front shocks but not sure what is the best way to find out if they are needing replaced and what bushes or linkages should be checked and how to do this.

When is the MOT due ? They test a lot of this anyway. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

In December just had a look at the test and there is an advisory for nearside rear shock misted with oil wondering if this could be causing the handling problem

Bob, The Freelander is just like a conventional car in terms of the suspension setup and you can check it the same as any other standard car. If your fit and able enough do the" bounce" test on each corner to check the suspension, I.E Push down hard on the bodywork at each wheel and watch for the results. The car should rebound up then down once only if the suspension is working as it should. Any more than one bounce and you have a worn shocker/shockers. Worn suspension components/ball joints etc can be checked by "safely" jacking up each wheel in turn and grabbing the wheel top and bottom and trying to rock it back and forth to check for any play/movement. Repeat with your hands in the 3 o`clock/9 o`clock position. Any worn items should show up. Also check the anti roll bar links by grabbing them and giving them a good shake. Always be safe when doing this and use axle stands under a solid part of the body/subframe and not just thejack on its own. Good luck! Thumbs Up
