United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Galway Green

Mine was carried out by a main dealer under warranty.

Like you I had recently put new tyres on and thought it was road noise. As soon as they joined me for a quick road test, he pointed out the diff. I can't say it's any quieter now however I understand if not maintained (over and above what LR recommend) then they are a weak point.

As you can see below we have had our fair share of problems. The best ones have been to 2008 and current 2014 ones. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Thanks. It seems much more noticeable since the new tyres, perhaps the old tyres drowned out the noise a little more, as I doubt 4 new tyres would put more strain on it than before?

I'll get some quotes for the work. Gulp!

As you can see from my 'Sign Off Box' below, I had a FL2 MY2010 for several years. (VN60TJV)
It ran like clockwork, and apart from annual service only needed tyres, brake pads and discs, a door lock and the 'Fuel Pump Wiring' fix.
It was in very good condition when I sold it, and went on sale with a new MOT just after.

However, I am puzzled, as according to the GOV website, it was never taxed (or SORN) ever again, and never submitted to another MOT.

I wonder if it was exported?

If you use the DVLA check if a car is taxed service, there is a field "export marker". This will be marked "yes" if the vehicle had been exported. No info is shown on the MOT check service as far as I am aware.

May have had personalised number put on it. Won't appear against old number in MoT check. Andy

Little update...the hole gets deeper...

Since my last update...the gearbox failed within weeks and has been replaced again (pre-lockdown)

More recently, I've had to have the PTU replaced...again... 2010 SD4 HSE: 3rd auto-gearbox, 3rd PTU, 2nd EGR, 2nd EGR Cooler, 2nd turbo boost pipe...and the normal DPF sensor, DPF cleaned...the bills continue..
