nuts are tapered to fit into the alloy. wheel fits on the hub so hub centric At work

Alrighty, so unfortunatley they don't make 1.7mm adapters, so i would need to have a .85mm aluminum ring made up.. it's such a good deal on the tires, I am really hoping I can work this out Smile

Sorry for the thread revival, but how did you go with the .85mm rings Arctic Fire?

Getting smaller factory wheels for these Freelander2's is near impossible down here in Aus. Land Rover are giving free upgrades to 18" on older stock. Volvo wheels look like the only option for those of us who don't want to abuse 19" ones off-road.

Well I'm still on the case, and after speaking with some 4WD Engineers down here have been pointed in this direction. Spigot rings are aparently what you're chasing Arctic Fire, and should be easily ordered in your neck of the woods.

I've found out that the rims I was hunting are off a V70XC, rather than XC90 as I originally thought. They're 16 inch too, which I fear might be a bit tight. The real problem is:-

Make : Volvo
Model : V70 X Country
Year : 00>
PCD : 5x108
Offset : 35 to 45
Bore : 65.1
Fittings : N 12x1.75

The offset is different which might send me back to the drawing board.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Our Army is replacing all their Defenders with G-Classes, so I'm wondering if I should give up on doing any decent 4WDing in the Freelander, and try and pick up one of the Defenders when they get sold to the market.

Knodes! that's a breakthrough in the case! Thanks! Although I think i will have to order those spigot rings from the site you listed as I can't find any ones like it in the correct size. I am getting closer to picking up these rims/tires and putting them on the Freely~

Buy a Defender and beat the Censored out of it, keep the freely for the burbs!

I know this is an ancient thread but I'm not sure why nobody mentioned using a hubcentric ring.....

This would reduce the 67.1mm (Volvo) hub ring to the 63.4 Land Rover LR2 hub ring.

And quickly looking at wheel-size.com, the offsets on the wheels are close enough that I wouldn't worry about it (approx. 5mm)

I never saw this thread before
I have XC90 17 inch rims on my Freeo.
I researched but the conclusion I came to is the bore isn't important. The friction of the wheel against the hub itself, generated by the tightening of the wheel nuts is the critical factor. The hub bore doesn't significantly bear any load, it's more about locating the wheel.

I looked into hub adapters but given that some are made from very soft material they couldn't possibly have any load bearing properties.

My 2c.

I've found hubcentric rings are useful more for alignment of the wheel when installing them -- thus reducing any possible vibration issues.

I picked up a set of 2019 Ford Edge 19" rims for summer tires.....the bolt pattern, hub size were identical, the offset was slightly different but inconsequential; the 18s, 19s and 20s will all fit my year LR2...........not sure if they come in a 17". LR original lugs fit just fine. Found them new on Kijiji last year. Sourced some generic hub cover from China and they worked out well, did not lose any yet Laughing

I see some fairly inexpensive 17" Volvo and Ford rims that might work for winter.

Didn't see any 'show me your winter setup' threads like with some other manufacturers.

Do you think 17" tires will be too soft ride wise?
